may "Overdue" have labour
I really am sorry you felt the criticism was toward you!
Now in response to you, let me share my anecdotal tale... With my first at 41w1d I had an internal exam. My baby hadn't dropped, I had perhaps a fingertip dilation, and insignificant effacement. Not exactly promising to go into labor on my own, since I was scheduled for an induction at 41w4d (within 3 days) after being on bedrest 6 weeks due to high blood pressure. Well, I never made it to the induction (Thank Goodness!) because DD decided it was time the day after my "unlikely to go into labor on my own" checkup. All those internal signs, engagement things sometimes just amount to a hill of beans. :) I did NOT feel like labor was imminent either if that is encouraging at all!
Oh, I hope so, too. The last days can be so long.

I think your reaction is understandable, too, especially considering how some doctors and members of family and society treat us when we go past the EDD. It's like there's something wrong! How else are you supposed to feel? Try not to worry and try to trust your body knows what it's doing. Hopefully, you will be holding your lil' babe soon. -- Joy
