Stop right there and let that sink in.
She will swear she wasn't because she likely wasn't. She was not super-perfect-uber-happy-utterly-patient-play-with-you-all-the-time mom. She wasn't. She was just like you and I. She went to bed wishing she'd spent more time with her kids playing instead of cleaning the house or doing laundry, or cooking meals, or running errands or working or whatever else she had to do. But you remember her with a golden glow. Just like you remember your first house as a child growing up much larger and more spacious than it actually was. You remember how much she loved you, and how you felt special and loved and protected and comforted by her. And that's how your kids are going to remember you.
I'd hazard a guess that you are doing a better job than you give yourself credit for. How about when you go to bed tonight, you give yourself a pat on the back and say -- GOOD JOB, DONNA! --
