The Waiting Room 2961Crispee Nope. They would charge you a fee for cancelling your appointment. Some doctors over book, that's for sure. But some get called away on emergencies. They are doctors, that's what they do, see sick...
I've never heard of vegetarians having low weight babies! Fruitarians, perhaps? Perhaps someone was trying to scare you ;-) My daughter was induced at 38 weeks, and she was a healthy 7lb 9oz. My mother was an ovo-lacto vegetarian when I was born, and I was just over 8lb. My sister was a similar weight. If you're interested, I've been vegetarian for 24 years.
The Waiting Room 2958Crispee Hm. For me, whenever someone is late, I presume that they have a reason -- even if it's...
There are certain advantages to a vegetarian diet during pregnancy; if it's balanced you'll likely be getting more folic acid than an omnivore, you won't be at risk from the mercury in certain types of fish, you'll be exposed to lower levels of chemicals (high in meat, then dairy, but you'll still be at an advantage) and if you'll be at a lower risk for food contagioning, just be sure to avoid unpastuerised cheese and milk, and salad you haven't prepared yourself.
I'm not sure specifically what you're concerned about. If it's protein (though most people who are eating well, including vegetarians, get more than enough) be sure to include plenty of wholegrain products - such as wholemeal bread, porridges etc - and plenty of legumes, such as chickpeas (hummus) kidney beans, red lentils, brown lentils etc. If iron is a concern, as it can be late in pregnancy, then it can be found in well-cooked grains and pulses, food cooked in cast iron (especially acidic foods like tomatoes), dried fruits such as apricots & prunes, sunflower & pumpkin seeds, wheatgerm & certain cereals such as millet and amaranth.
The Waiting Room 2960Crispee Obviously, in an ideal world people would be prompt. However, there are reasons things don't move like clockwork. Dr. visit lengths are unpredictable. Some people need more...
Don't drink milk or caffienated drinks around meals, and have a glbutt of orange juice or fresh green vegetables with your meal to boost your vitamin C. It's common to need an iron supplement late in pregnancy, but iron can be constipating, and too much iron is dangerous - so only supplement if your levels are low, they'll test for it during antenatal bloods. You may want a screen late in pregnancy, as babies build their iron stores in the last month, so premature babies and babies born to mothers who are iron deficient late in pregnancy, are at higher risk for iron deficiency themselves. The best way to ensure your newborn has good iron stores is to delay cord clamping, and breastfeed.
The Waiting Room 2959Caledonia Why do some manage and others don't then? Interestingly, the practice I left, because waits of 1 hr + with no explanation of emergencies, was a very high end place. Situated in the...
My biggest concern would be vitamin B12, which is only found in animal foods or non-animal supplements. You may be getting enough from milk products, but a B12 supplement alone wouldn't hurt you anyway. It's vital for vegans, pregnant or not.
