Transition to daycare or not 4381

If you really think your son has very specific needs (e.g., has to go out for walks several times a day), then it's probably best to get a nanny.

Where I live, the ratio for infants is 3:1 in daycare centers. However, it may be possible to find home daycares where the provider looks after only 2 babies. We found such a woman when DD was about 5 or 6 months old and I went back to work.

It took a LOT of looking and a lot of calling and interviewing. And we did switch providers once when it became evident that the first one we chose just wasn't up to our expectations.

Another thing to keep in mind is that while you and your wife may have set activities you do with your baby, it doesn't necessarily mean the daycare provider (center or individual) must copy exactly the same activities. So, it may be okay that your child doesn't get walked to sleep by the daycare - chances are they will have other means.

Lastly, always trust your instincts. If you feel this isn't the place for your baby, switch.
