There is a lot you have to learn, Rich. Some food sensitivities trigger immediate reactions, and some trigger delayed reactions. The test that allergist do for food allergies have varying degrees of accuracy. The most accurate test for delayed food allergies are the ones where you eat the food. Blood test and the skin needle test are not as accurate. Food sensitivities are very common. Most doctors don't bother to have their patients tested for them. One reason doctors don't have their patients tested for them is costs. My allergist only did a delayed allergy test for corn because I asked him to. He would not ask my insurance to pay for testing a huge variety of other foods, so I did my own test at home. Delayed allergies are not the life-threatening kind.
Acne, eczema, psoriasis, autism, and many other problems can be at least PARTIALLY triggered by food allergies. You can go to those groups and ask around if you like. Food allergies won't trigger autism all by itself, but many parents of patients do notice a difference when certain foods are in their diet.
Hayfever can be affected by food allergies because they can work with airborne allergies to increase your histamine levels. I know this from personal experience, and not just once. Most allergist only consider IgE antibodies when they talk about food allergies. There are other antibodies that can trigger similar symptoms to IgE. IgE is more life-threatening than other antibodies, but so what. If your joints are aching, does it matter whether you call it food allergies or food intolerance? You only want the pain to stop.
