Livein nanny responsibilities 2181

An employee isn't usually like a member of the family, doing her share of the work (though some can be). That's more usual in Asia than in the US.

Did you establish, say, the number of hours each week that she is expected to work? And some sort of approximate schedule? In some cases, the whole point of a live-in nanny is to have flexibility. In others, it's because it's difficult to get someone who can come in reliably every day. It's probably best to be clear what your and her expectations are.

She probably buttumes that she comes "on duty" when you leave home, and is "off duty" when you return.

DS#1 in trouble at school
When I picked DS#1(who will be 4yo next month) up today from preschool his teacher told me he had been in trouble (and she hadn't had a chance to write...

I think it would be reasonable to expect her to get her own breakfast and lunch, if you buy the food she would need -- say fruit and cereals and bread and eggs or whatever is usual. Unless there is some reason for her to get dinner on the table, I would imagine that would be outside her normal duties.

What did you do for food before you hired her? You say you cooked once a week. Why can't you just do that, and make sure there's enough extra cooked for her?

Yeah, but you can support the bride without going to the shower. I mean, there could be all kinds of reasons why you might not be able to go, and it wouldn't be seen...
