Thanks for saying this!!
I had the benefit of one of each type of baby. DD#1 did not sleep through the night until age 9 months when we finally Ferberized her... had to.. she would not sleep longer than 20-30 minute stretches, all throughout the day. I literally went months without sleep, and I was quickly derailing, mentally, physically, emotionally.
My big concern was that I would fall fast asleep out of sheer exhaustion, and not hear her or the fire alarm go off. Or I'd crash the car because I hadn't had sleep in months. In my sleep-deprived sate, I was already doing mistakes like leaving the burners on. You simply can't continue to operate like that.
DD#2 OTOH slept 12 hours straight the very first night, in the hospital, and never stopped that pattern. She'd also take four hour afternoon nap, and a two hour morning nap. She'd nurse only 4 times a day, but it'd be a marathon nursing session.
ABC news 4364I was reacting mostly to all the recent posts which seemed to all say that...
Both today are just fine and none the worse for wear. They're just different.
Did you read that pacifiers are now considered a key preventive measure against SIDS?
