Well, after it's been nerfed again, the Talisman of EP from MC is arguably better. It's still very good for any caster, though, including priests (either kind).

Some of the new blue items that were added to Stratholme and Scholomance are fairly good and are worth a look. Some of the new blue items that drop in Zul'Gurub are as good, or better, than some of the lower-item-level epics from MC (thinking of that one blue cape here). Also, there is some neat equipment to be had in AQ20, even blue pieces.

In general, items with +damage-healing are desirable. When the game was new, casters frequently went for stats (int chiefly) thinking that "more mana" is the ultimate goal. Today, +damage-healing is widely seen as the better choice, at least to some degree: once you have +500 damage-healing, stats and +crit become more crucial. In PvE, +chance-to-hit is also an important mod for the end game. Depending on build, +1% here can equal +11 or more damage-healing. On the "blue level", I'd try to achieve some sort of balance, depending on one's other gear, but a "naked" stats item is worse than one with fewer stats but +damage-healing.

The T1 and T2 sets are not always the optimal choices for casters (the T1 for mages, for example, blows majorly). They have the advantages of the set bonuses and the "better look", but you can usually achieve better results with non-set items. It can be a lot cheaper (DKP) to go for non-set pieces. Also, Dreadmist (T0 set for warlocks) is horrible -- you can get much better non-set stuff in the blue instances. The blue PvP set may also be an option.
