Has anyone here used Dianus' guides for soloing Mother Smolderweb and the worg pup-smolderweb spiderling quests?
I had my doubts about the first one, and indeed failed twice in getting to her. However, on my third try, I made it to her and managed to kill her following the advice in the guide. Wheee! No wildheart boots dropped that time, though, although I did get Venomspitter, which vendored for 5.5g, and a Traveler's Backpack, which sold in the AH for 18g. Not bad. :) The second time, I died while fighting her, because I accidently aggroed a group of about 6-7 spiders near her. :P Third time, end her again, and this time got a smolderweb eye. Fourth time fighting her (but third kill), I got my boots and was thrilled. :) I went on to kill her 2 more times, but never got anything really useful off her again (got a second eye, which vendored for only 97s, and a pair of gilded plate gauntlets, which vendored for less than a gold).
I then decided to give the pet quests a shot. Stealthed to the Mother again, gathered some eggs there, moved on and gathered the rest, then went on to get the worg pup. No way to survive getting the pup as a druid, but I was able to capture it before dying, so after turning in the quests, I now have a cute worg puppy following me around (or the ugly spider, although I tend not to bother bringing it out).
Anyway, I was just wondering how others who might've tried these guides did? I know Dianius herself had to kill Mother Smolderweb 20 times to get her boots, so I feel lucky to have gotten mine on the third kill, and very lucky indeed to have gotten both pets on the first try.
